The Voices of Jerry O'Connell and Jennifer Love Hewitt, PUPS ALONE in Theaters NOW!

The cast of Christmas canine crime caper Pups Alone, had a litter of famous names! Danny Trejo (Machete, Spy Kids), Jerry O’Connell (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Billions) and Malcolm McDowell (Bombshell, Truth Seekers) will lend their voices to the live-action feature, which also stars Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables), Jennifer Love Hewitt (9-1-1), Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow), Keith David (The Princess and the Frog), Nicholas Turturro (BlacKkKlansman) and Eric Roberts (Runaway Train).

Directed by Alex Merkin (Altitude) from an original concept and screenplay by Brandon Burrows and Jason Gruich, the film sees Lundgren play the primary antagonist Victor VonManure, the conniving and obnoxious next-door neighbor to the inventor of a dog collar that translates canine thoughts into words. When Victor hires two inept thieves to steal the invention while the inventor is away on a company ski trip, the neighborhood dogs catch wind of the plan and join forces to set up a house of horrors to stop the would-be robbers!

Jerry O’Connell: Holiday family film. Talking dogs. "Alone" in the title. If you are a holiday film, and you want to be successful, you better have "alone" in the title. We just swapped out the word "home" for pups.

When you read the script, did you immediately get that Home Alone vibe? Hence the title had “Alone” in it.

I just wanted to voice a dog. They had already shot everything. It's live-action, so it was fun to come in and voice a dog. I'm a dog owner. I love dogs. I love looking at my dog and imagining, "What would my dog sound like if they could talk?" I got to go in and do that for Pups Alone, looking at this dog on camera and being like, "What would this dog sound like?" I did a lot of research. I went to many dog parks throughout North America and stared at dogs from the edge of the corral.

What do you enjoy about all these voiceover gigs?

When I was younger, I really wanted to get into voice acting. All my favorite actors were voice actors. I took a lead off the older generation. "Oh, those dudes all do voice work. I should probably get into voice work." You don't have the crutch of being physical. It's a different style of acting. It's telling a story through your voice. But it was older actors that I worked with and who did a lot of it, that made me want to get into it.
