It was great catching up with Tichina Arnold, the last time we spoke was when I interviewed her for her hit TV show, The Neighborhood. She’s playing the grandmother on Netflix upcoming movie, THE MAIN EVENT and it’s super uplifting, funny and warm. Exactly what we need right now I’m these uncertain times.

“The Main Event,” follows an 11-year-old boy (Seth Carr) who discovers a magical mask and enters a competition to become the next WWE superstar. With the support of his grandmother (Tichina Arnold), he will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream.

I had the opportunity to interview Tichina and Seth on Zoom this past week and I asked Tachina what she’d like her audience goers takeaway watching “The Main Event.”

Tichina who’s a natural at making people laugh with her charisma, and sass will enthrall you with her character in “The Main Event.”

Tichina is no stranger to voicing her opinion, especially when it pertains to any disrespectful social media messages and cyber bullying. “I'm a realist, not a sugar coater. I believe in always letting people know what their obstacles are standing up for yourself.” When you need help ask for it and always know there’s one person that’s routing for you, and that person is you. Believe in yourself, what you can do will surprise you.

Tachina spoke briefly what it was like working with Seth.

“Seth is the constant professional. He’s so mild-mannered and very soft-spoken. When he talks you have to lean in and hear what he’s saying. I’m loud so whenever he talked I put my ear close to him. He’s truly an an amazing and talented actor. “

THE MAIN EVENT

After discovering a magical mask, an 11-year-old boy enters a competition to become the next WWE superstar. When 11-year-old Leo Thompson (Seth Carr) discovers a magical wrestling mask that grants him super strength, he uses it to enter a WWE competition. With the support of his grandmother (Tichina Arnold), Leo will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a WWE Superstar. Can one kid win it all, in the face of epic challengers in the ring? Directed by Jay Karas, THE MAIN EVENT co-stars Adam Pally, Ken Marino, and features WWE Superstars Kofi Kingston, The Miz and Sheamus.

THE MAIN EVENT will be streaming starting this Friday, April 10th on Netflix.
