My beloved book that I read as a child, written by Frances Hodgson Burnett in 1911 has been turned into a movie and it’s nothing short of magic and mystery. It’s filled with hope, love and the true meaning of family and friendship.
Our story begins following 10-year-old Mary Lennox, who is forced to leave her home in India to go live with her uncle in Yorkshire when her parents are killed. There, she discovers a neglected, locked-up piece of land in the mansion's grounds and her mission is to bring it back to life.
A tale about finding friendship in the unlikeliest of places, wonderment, and what we all seem to need today, given our pandemic, fresh air, sunlight and a little bit of childlike innocent fun.
I wish we could all find a secret garden to bring us peace and tranquility, since we don’t have one handy we have THE SECRET GARDEN movie! I highly recommend seeing THE SECRET GARDEN, it reminded me, “that magic can happen anytime,” and most importantly, “don’t give up on life.” No matter what you’re struggling with, in order to pull through you must push through it! It’s easier said than done, I know, but you mustn’t forget, your life matters, you matter.
I recently saw Bellamy Young post:
“You are worth finding
Worth knowing
Worth loving
You and all your one million layers
Always hold that close”
This quote to me was the very essence of THE SECRET GARDEN.
THE SECRET GARDEN will rekindle the light that has dimmed within you and awaken a spirit that’s ready to soar! It’s a movie for the entire family to watch. As a home schooling mom, I recommend this as an assignment. Have the kids watch it and have a discussion of what they learned from it and what would they have done differently and here’s a link to the activity guide. Enjoy!
THE SECRET GARDEN starring Colin Firth, Julie Walters and Dixie Egerickx is a new take on the beloved classic novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Set in England during a new time period in 1947, the film follows a young orphan girl who, after being sent to live with her uncle, discovers a magical garden on the grounds of his estate. Marc Munden is directing the script, which was adapted for the screen by Jack Thorne.
David Heyman (Harry Potter franchise, Pattington 1,2) and Rosie Alison (Paddington 1, 2) are producing and Jane Robertson (The Danish Girl, Bridget Jones’s Baby) is co-producing. StudioCanal’s Ron Halpern, Didier Lupfer and Dan MacRae are executive producers.
