Thank you Netflix for inviting me to the virtual roundtable press junket with the voice talent Paul-MikélWilliams (“Darius”) and Raini Rodriguez (“Sammy”) for DreamWorks “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – Season 3.”

Jurassic I Interview

BelAirMommie: I wanted to know, as your characters are growing, how do you relate to your character? And what would you like your audience goers to learn from your character?

Raini: I definitely relate to Sammy. And a lot of ways. We're both from Texas, we both have, big Latino families, we both tend to be the mother hands of the group, the nurturers, the one that takes care of everybody. You know, of course, I want everybody to get along the same way that Sammy does. She's all about you know, family and unity and being together and understanding each other's differences, but learning how to move forward, she doesn't like conflict that much, very energetic, and I would love for people to take from her, her strength, and her her willingness to be an individual and not be afraid to showcase her true qualities and who she really is, um, you know, she is who she is. And she doesn't apologize for that. She knows she's an extrovert she knows she can be loud and overly energetic about the most random things on the island, but that's who she is. And she just wants people to accept her for that. And she's also willing to accept everybody else as well and, and hear everybody out.

And she's also not afraid to speak your mind to I remember, in season two, when her and derrius sort of fight over do they let out the carnivores as well as the herbivores of the dinosaurs in her, you know, loving animals so much that she just couldn't, can't stand the fact that, you know, he could see it another way than she saw it. But at the same time, she went about it with love and respect, but she was firm about standing her ground and I love love that about her, I cannot wait for people to see that. And even more, we see even more of why she's motivated to be at Camp Cretaceous in season three, and I want people to take away her strength and, and, and to her ability to just love her family and friends and, you know, her fierceness to protect them and, and her ability to see you know, everybody's differences and celebrate them. And I hope people really resonate with that, for sure.

Paul: I definitely have to agree with Rainey. Same thing with Darious, he was sort of introverted in the beginning of season one, because he didn't expect he expected to be around some fellow dyno living nerds. And that's the opposite of what happened. But one thing that I want people to take away from derrius is he he broke out of his shell. And he, he had the courage to to fight for these people that he had just met, despite being afraid to and that's what bravery and courage is about and I'm taking that that role of leadership is definitely something that we see throughout seasons wanting to, and I'm the one thing that I haven't really talked about is, Darious, he’s kind of relinquishing that, that leadership feel in season three, because in season three, we kind of get to see him go about on his own path. And get, we get to see like, what he actually came here to do in the first place, which was love dinosaurs and learn about them.

And I'm seeing him, you know, like, let someone else take the reins for a while so he can focus on what he needs from self to be okay. That's something that I know a lot of people have had to deal with was, um, was taking care of other people before you take it before you taking care of yourself. It's a really good mentality, but what a lot of people forget is you have to remember that taking care of yourself is still part of taking care of other people before taking care of yourself. So yeah, and just his level of perseverance. I mean, even after the final confrontation in season one with Toro, and him going through him not being able to help everybody like usually can. That was another nod to figuring out how to finally give the reins to somebody else, because you're not going to always be able to handle it on your own. And sometimes you're gonna have to ask for help. So yeah, that's definitely one of the traits that I feel everybody needs.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous

Set against the timeline of the blockbuster film Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Camp Cretaceous, a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar who must work together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island.

Still stranded on the island, the campers uncover more details of Dr. Wu’s secret research, and must quickly take their fate into their own hands with a dangerous plan to leave Isla Nublar behind for good. But when a tropical storm delays their departure, a lethal new threat quickly closes in on the campers, placing their escape, as well as their lives, in extreme peril.

The series is executive produced by Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley who also serve as showrunners. Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Frank Marshall serve as executive producers. The series was developed by Zack Stentz, who also serves as consulting producer.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous features the voices of Paul-Mikel Williams as resident dino expert Darius; Jenna Ortega as social media sensation Brooklynn; Ryan Potter as Kenji; Raini Rodriguez as Sammy; Sean Giambrone as Ben; and Kausar Mohammed as Yaz.
