DOUG UNPLUGS Interview with Jim Nolan and Aliki Theofilopoulos!

Thank you @appletv, Jim Nolan and @alikigreeky, I had a wonderful time discussing #DougUnplugs on #AppleTV

Apple TV Plus has unveiled its newest children’s programs, Doug Unplugged. It's easy being a robot, if you play by all the rules—but when Doug gets curious, he decides to unplug and forge his own path.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation, the show is based on the “Doug Unplugged” book series by Dan Yaccarino and premieres Nov. 13. The show is executive produced by Jim Nolan, Aliki Theofilopoulos and Dan Yaccarino. The cast features Brandon James Cienfuegos, Kyrie McAlpin, Eric Bauza, Mae Whitman, Leslie David Baker and Becky Robinson.

The first season features seven, 23 minute episodes, each of which have two stories in them. They are short and sweet and more importantly in every episode is a life lesson. .

If you haven’t picked up Dan Yaccarino’s popular “Doug Unplugged” book series as of yet, YOU MUST, they’re absolutely delightful and you’ll fall in love with Doug and once you see him on the screen your heart will explode in delight. Doug Unplugs follows a curious six-year-old robot, Doug, who senses there is more to life than just the facts. While other robots plug in for their daily download, Doug, with the help of his best friend Emma, they discover what this beautiful life has to offer.

I spoke to Jim Nolan and asked what this show represents, and it’s all about the importance of balancing technology and experience. “It recognizes that tech is an increasingly big part of kids' lives; case in point: my two-year-old son already knows how to find videos of himself on my phone,” he says. “So, we're asking our audience to let that technology fuel their curiosity and use it as a catalyst to go out and explore their world. In doing just that over the course of our series, Doug explores and discovers what it means to be human, experiencing themes like friendship, family, community, and imagination. There's even an added ‘green’ message as our robots live and work at a futuristic recycling plant.” Watch the entire interview above!
