SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Flying into Theaters 2|14!

Thank you Paramount Pictures for inviting us to the Press Junket and Family Play Date for Sonic the Hedgehog Movie. Get ready to laugh, with Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter.

Our press junket started with Jim walking in with his distinct voice belting out, “ I smell children!” and that was the start of our hilariously delicious interview with the cast! Jim plays Robotnik and his take on why his villain character is not evil but driven to capture Sonic.

Jim: “Sonic is special. Sonic has a divine spark. Sonic looks at the world like play — and Robotnik can’t do that,” he says. “He’s so concerned with what people think of him and making a mark that can never be erased in the world. It’s what people get caught up in sometimes. The real magic in life is to hang onto that kid in you.”

Jim goes on to share that he was not a gamer as we all were in the ’80s playing Sonic. “I was not a gamer,” Carrey says. “But I am the perfect avatar for this game, and I come fully loaded to the teeth. Robotnik is the absolute manifestation of pure ego with absolute abandonment, and he’s so much fun to play… every super-villain basically comes from a place of neglect with a feeling of absolute worthlessness that manifests itself in magnificent creations that are designed to control the world, put their brand on everybody, and maybe even get inside your bloodstream with some nanotechnology occasionally."

“I read the script and loved the script,” he says. “But then the writer inside of my brain starts working and I add a little bit of this and a little bit of that. And I start dreaming, and then something happens over breakfast, and by the time I get to the set I have 10 or 15 different ideas that I’d love to try. Those ideas end up tacked up like Post-Its to places around me, and people’s foreheads, and when you see it, it connects. And then so much happens on set. When you’re really in it, ideas just grow. …”

Marsden, who plays the Sheriff of Green Hills, Montana, has played Sonic and loved every minute of it. “I started with Atari and Intellivision and all the old gaming consoles,” Marsden says. “And then Mario, and the Sega Genesis came along and Sonic was just fast and cool. He was like a little superhero, but I had to quit playing, otherwise, I wouldn’t have done anything productive with my life,” he says with a laugh.

Sonic the Hedgehog is an absolute HIT! It’s family-friendly, funny and engaging, it will make you want to go home and play Sonic and see what level you can reach just like we did!

Thank you Paramount for inviting us to Paramount Studios for our family play date, I loved being there, so much history and beauty that surrounded us, it was truly magical. Our afternoon was filled with sunshine, play, and joy. From the DJ spinning the tunes, walked the blue carpet, stations of hair paint, face painting, carnival games, running a race (yes, I ran!) and Sonic themed food, it was spectacular. As if we could top the afternoon off, we did, we screened the movie! WOWZER
