San Diego Boy Elected First Mayor of Miniland!
LEGOLAND® California Resort has elected its first Mayor of Miniland! Seven-year-old James Carlin from Encinitas has grown up just ten miles from the family theme park in Carlsbad and created a strong social media campaign explaining why he was the best fit for the job. Months later, the LEGOLAND fan received a knock at his door from a LEGOLAND knight and character “Buddy” informing him of his new position.
Carlin’s first “day on the job” at LEGOLAND California Resort began with General Manager Peter Ronchetti offering him the key (made of LEGO®, of course!) to Miniland U.S.A. before the newly-elected mayor officially opened the Park gates for the day. As part of his new duties, Carlin greeted Park guests, answered questions and took photos with LEGOLAND fans. Carlin then headed to the model shop for his first meeting with a Master Model Builder where he constructed a LEGO Minilander of himself and placed it in Grand Central Terminal in Miniland New York City.
Before Carlin’s day was complete, the Mayor of Miniland made his first proclamation! As he and other students get ready to go back to school, Carlin worked with LEGOLAND to create a special ticket offer for all San Diegans which provides them access to the Park and SEA LIFE aquarium for just $49.99 for one day or for two days at just $28.99 per day.
Carlin and his family received annual passes to LEGOLAND California Resort and a one night stay at LEGOLAND Hotel or LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. For details on the Back to School sale, visit: www.LEGOLAND.com/Hero.
