HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN UGLYDOLL!

Last night I hosted an advance screening of UGLY DOLLS, and I have to say we thought it was phenomenal, now with that said, kiddo is requesting his very own UGLY DOLL. As a single mom, it's difficult to buy every toy out there so this is where my sewing talents come into play. Make your very own UGLYDOLL for just a couple of dollars. Head over to the fabric store and buy leftover scraps, remember your UGLYDOLL DOES NOT need to be perfect, as a matter of fact, the uglier the better, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Ugly Doll Tutorial

Step 1: Find your UGLYDOLL that you want and print out the image, cut out the shape and that that will become your pattern. Etsy has some shapes, I would just google UGLYDOLL shapes and print out the desired. When you cut out the shape I suggest folding it in half to ensure the other side is symmetrical.

Step 2: Use your pattern to cut two of the doll’s shape…one for the front and one for the back.

Step 3: With right sides together, sew around the edges, leaving a hole for turning and filling your doll.

Step 4: Flip the doll right side out and make sure the ears and arms are turned smoothly.

Step 5: Stuff the doll with polyester fiberfill. Make it nice and full because they will be thrown, squished, tramples, washed, everything you can think of and you want it to last. Stuff it as much as you can, make it one fat UGLYDOLL.

Step 6: Hand-sew the hole you used for turning.

Step 7:

Decorate your doll, you can hot glue your pieces on or you may sew on your pieces.

Have fun creating your very own UGLYDOLL, I'd love to see what you've created, email me and I'll post it on my InstaStories!

IN THEATERS May 3

In the adorably different town of Uglyville, weirdness is celebrated, strangeness is special and beauty is embraced as more than meets the eye. After traveling to the other side of a mountain, Moxy and her UglyDoll friends discover Perfection -- a town where more conventional dolls receive training before entering the real world to find the love of a child. Soon, the UglyDolls learn what it means to be different -- ultimately realizing that they don't have to be perfect to be amazing.
