Mary Poppins Returns DVD and Blu-ray release date is set for March 19, 2019 and available on Digital
Thank you, Disney, for inviting me to meet Director Rob Marshall and catching a glimpse of, The Practically Perfect Making of “Mary Poppins Returns.” Our day was filled with amazing adventure however what happened next had me in tears. During our Interview with Mr. Marshall he welcomed Angela Lansbury and I totally lost it, started to cry, took me a hot second to compose myself. A living legend walks into a room, you’re left breathless and grateful to be in the very same room as her.
Mary Poppins Returns takes me back to when films captured you with there dancing, singing and grand set designs. Mr. Marshall's love for musicals is obvious, he poured all his heart into Mary Poppins Returns and it shows.
The music is heart-warming, fun and full of life. The dance numbers, allow me to explain, when you see the dance numbers you’ll want to get up and dance. Even if you have zero rhythm the very least you’ll want to do is sway.
Mary Poppins Returns is set in the era when the books were originally written, the 1930s, London’s depression era, which coincidentally is 24 years later than when the first film was set, 1910, which then made Jane and Michael Banks older.
I asked Mr. Marshall if there were any scenes that he wanted to be in the movie that got cut, and with a slight pause, he thought about it and said, only one and it’s a small scene and as a matter of fact you’ll find it on the DVD! Mrs. Lansbury is riveting in the movie, she has a childlike disposition, I firmly believe that’s why she looks amazing and is happy, you can see it on her face.

“Mary Poppins Returns” is directed by Rob Marshall. The screenplay is by David Magee and the screen story is by Magee & Rob Marshall & John DeLuca based upon the Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers. The producers are John DeLuca, p.g.a., Rob Marshall, p.g.a. and Marc Platt, p.g.a. with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer. The music score is by Marc Shaiman and the film features all new original songs with music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. The film also stars Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.
