Thank you, Disney, for inviting me to a pre-screening of Captain Marvel! When I first heard about Captain Marvel I was conflicted, didn’t know how I would feel about her, what she’d bring to the table? Yes, I just admitted that I was questioning her existence in the Marvel Universe.
Captain Marvel is everything we needed that we didn’t know we were missing. Welcome Captain Marvel to the MU family, with Carol joining the MU team, they're now complete. HIGHER! FURTHER! FASTER! Captain Marvel is more than a movie about woman power, it’s about being wholeheartedly unapologetic about who you are. Being strong not only physically but mentally is crucial for growth and confidence. Captain Marvel is independent, a fighter for what she believes in and follows her own path. Doesn’t let others define her, she respects herself and loves fiercely. She's not only a great role model for little girls but she's the perfect role model for all children and some adults. To be nice, polite, respectful to all, most importantly, listen before you react.
She’s captivating and my spirit animal! Each character brings something unique to the table. Allow me to introduce you to Captain Marvel which takes place in the 1990s, as Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) finds herself caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races: the Kree and the Skrulls. This is where we come across “Fury,” Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, “Phil Coulson” when they first started out together and they’re amazing! I love back stories, knowing where one begins in life and most importantly how they develop to be the person we see today. If you love them now, you will love them more.
I will not spoil the movie for you, I’ll let you know that this is a must see movie and get ready to be blown away. She’s a badass, fierce, and freaking fabulous. The entire cast will have you mesmerized and you’re going to love every second if it. Go in knowing you will see Captain Marvel a minimum of two times. And repeat after me: HIGHER! FURTHER! FASTER!
