Whitney Documentary In Theaters July 6, Get Ready to Ugly Cry!

What can I say about Whitney Houston? My entire childhood was Whitney Houston music in the background, her voice would take over and the entire room would break out singing, dancing or crying. As I’m writing this I’m crying, I can hear her right now bellowing out, “ And I will always love you.”

It’s been six years since her extraordinary life was cut short on Feb. 12, 2012, and we're still riveted by her, her inner circle and lifestyle. Questions still arise why this happened to her, could it have been prevented and why was her ending like this? Whitney the movie makes some stunning revelations that unfortunately are not explored. One of the main reasons they couldn’t go further was her aunt Dee Dee passed away several years ago, Dee Dee was Dionne Warwick‘s sister and she’s accused of molesting Whitney. Houston’s half-brother Gary Garland was first to tell Macdonald of the abuse and said he was molested as well. Pat Houston, who was Houston’s sister-in-law and manager, corroborated the claim. These new allegations and other in-depth moments are brought to light by Kevin MacDonald the director of the Whitney documentary.

Kevin shared what he wants people to feel when watching Whitney and why he felt it was important to incorporate the molestation accusation. “I think it will impact her legacy in a positive way because I hope that it will make people feel like I’m not going to dismiss her as this drug-addicted, tabloid, ne’er do well, low-class person,” Macdonald explained. “By understanding, you humanize. I didn’t start this as a great Whitney Houston fan, but I ended up with a credible sense of empathy for her, and a love of the music born out of that empathy.”

Whitney documentary is the first to have been approved by Whitney’s estate. Whitney documentary has never-before-seen performance and other video footage of the star, her family, fans, and friends. Bobby Brown, Clive Davis, Kevin Costner and Cissy Houston appear in the movie, Pat Houston is the executive producer.

Pat Houston addressed the fact that Bobby Brown is coming out with a documentary of his own. Pat was very clear that Bobby has every right to release his documentary, he’s sharing his experience, his life that he lived with Whitney, it’s his moments, the one thing Pat hopes for is that Bobby will correctly reflect on Whitney. When Bobby shares memories, Pat hopes that the story doesn’t get twisted and or embellished. I can say this documentary was heart breaking, to see the demise of this beautiful woman with a G*D given talent that captivated the world and whom was unfortunately taken away from us too soon, get ready to ugly cry.
