UNICEF Kid Power X STAR WARS

FORCE FOR CHANGE & THE U.S. FUND FOR UNICEF MAKE AN IMPACT AROUND MAY THE FOURTH

Star Wars: Force for Change has supported the U.S. Fund for UNICEF through a number of fan-activated campaigns thanks to the Star Wars fan community, including this year’s CrowdRise campaign (the U.S. Fund for UNICEF was one of four participating organizations) and the Bad Robot Action Movie FX Charitable Pack (100% of each sale supported the U.S. Fund for UNICEF). 25% of the retail price of Rogue One t-shirts sold in the Disney Parks this summer will also be donated to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

These initiatives have enabled Star Wars fans to help raise a significant amount of money for UNICEF Kid Power, which gives kids the power to get active and save lives! By getting active with the UNICEF Kid Power Band, kids go on missions to earn points and unlock therapeutic food packets for severely malnourished children around the world. The incredible support from fans for the above three fundraising efforts to-date has raised more than $400,000 [enough to send 975,000 packets of lifesaving Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to malnourished children around the world]. Since early 2015, we have been able to distribute over one million RUTF packets to children around the world, thanks to Star Wars: Force for Change – and we’re not finished yet!

The “Rookie Wookiees” Raise Money for UNICEF

A group of students from Whitby School in Greenwich, Connecticut, known as “The Rookie Wookiees,” celebrated “May the Fourth” by planning a Star Wars: Force for Change fundraiser in support of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Student from grades 4 – 7 rallied together and created Star Wars events and activities to raise money and spread excitement around this Star Wars-themed day – showing their school what it means to be a Force for Change. Together they raised $1,328!

Sophia, 7th grader and co-founder of “The Rookie Wookiees” wanted to find a way to share her love of Star Wars with her fellow classmates and donate to a worthy cause. “I decided that I wanted to raise money for UNICEF. UNICEF protects the rights of children around the world, and gives them the basic materials to live. I really want to help these children, and create better lives for them.”
